Kashmir Conflict

Kashmir conflict:

Kashmir has been an integral part of India, but Pakistan insists that the population in the valley, which is predominantly Muslim, be given the right to choose their own fate through a plebiscite.
Since independence Kashmir has been an apple of discord between the two neighbors.

It is the problem created by the British and passed on as legacy to India.

Early history:

Soon after independence in 1947 Pakistan invaded Kashmir by sending armed tribal. That time Maharaja of Kashmir Hari singh, acceded to India. The Indian army was send to the valley, the invaders pushed out. Consequently Pakistan occupied the northern and western portions of Kashmir, which is about 84,160 square km.

1965 and 1971 war:

In 1965 Pakistan attacked India, Kashmir particularly.

But got a defeat by Indian forces.

As a consequence, the Tashkent Pact was signed.

But Pakistan again attacked India, another war was fought in the year of 1971, resulting another humiliating defeat for Pakistan, and the formation of the independent Bangladesh.

In 1972 both the country had signed an agreement called Shimla agreement.

This agreement ruled out any third party intervention.

But Pakistan continued to internationalize the issue, raising the matter at various international fora.

Disputes:

Pakistan continues to demand Kashmir on the logic less ground that the majority population in the valley is Muslim.

In spite of the major defeats on the three occasions, Pakistan refuses to see the reason and has maintained the hostility.

Pakistan has been misguiding the people of Kashmir under the guise of the Independence and Muslim brotherhood.

By totally ignoring the fact that the people of Pakistan –occupied Kashmir are treated like second class citizens, as like Bangladeshis were treated when they were part of the East Pakistan.

More Disputes:

This dispute has become more complex.
Although India has sincerely tried to mend fences but has been in vain.
Pakistan in receiving unlimited military aid and being used as a pawn by some foreign powers that do not want India to become a strong and powerful nation.

But the fact remains that Pakistan has lost Kashmir.

The UN has removed the matter from its agenda and it is no more an international issue.

Generation Gap

Generation Gap:

Generation gap is a term referring to differences between younger generation and their elders. Especially it is the difference between parents and children regarding culture, fashion and dressing etc.

This term popularized in Western countries during the 1960s referring to differences between people of younger generations and their elders, especially between children and their parents. It might be summarized as the differences in language, for the younger generations developed slang languages (informal way of speaking), like pidgins, instead of using the formal language.it might also be the difference in appearance, or even in technology.

Reasons:
Fast growing cultures.

Communication gap

Dis appearance of joint family

Adamant mentality of elderly people

Over growing technology

Elder generation expect their children to follow the same age cultures

Problems:
Differences of opinion will arise and this will lead to misunderstanding within the family.

Age old traditions, outmoded customs and sectarian attitudes of the elders often come in conflict with the aspirations of the youths.

Some elderly people cannot tolerate the modern ideas and ways of living of the younger generation.

Taking sudden decisions such as leaving home, breaking relationships etc.

Taking sudden decisions by younger generations such as leaving home, breaking relationships etc.

Solutions:
Parents and children must spend some time together regularly and they should try to understand each other.

Proper guidance for children from elders.

In-spite of fast growing culture, children must try to understand their elder's words as they already passed their age. And young generation must know that parents always make us go through the correct path.

When correcting them, they should observe the principle that prevention is better than punishment.

Parents should also explain to their children why they disapprove or approve of certain values.

Parents should try to understand that the world is not remained same as it was 20 yrs. before.

Parents should give justified freedom to their children.
